processors and operating systems, FT said.<\/p>\n<p>AMD and Intel declined to comment on the report.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as China has been boosting its domestic semiconductor industry as it seeks to reduce reliance on foreign technology.<\/p>\n<p>Semiconductors \u2013 critical components found in a wide range of devices from smartphones to medical equipment \u2013 have been at the center of a technology war between the U.S. and China.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"Placeholder-ArticleBody-Video-107337859\">\n<div role=\"button\" id=\"Placeholder-ArticleBody-Video-107337859\" class=\"PlaceHolder-wrapper\" data-vilynx-id=\"7000323494\" data-test=\"VideoPlaceHolder\">\n<div class=\"InlineVideo-videoEmbed\" id=\"InlineVideo-0\" data-test=\"InlineVideo\">\n<div class=\"InlineVideo-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"InlineVideo-inlineThumbnailContainer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"InlineVideo-videoThumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.worldtechguide.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/chinas-new-guidelines-block-intel-and-amd-chips-in-government-computers-ft.jpg\" alt=\"U.S. chip export controls will stay in place regardless of who wins 2024 election, says Chris Miller\"><span class=\"InlineVideo-videoButton\"><\/span><span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>U.S. has implemented export restrictions to cut off Beijing from key semiconductor equipment and technologies.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2022, Washington introduced rules aimed at restricting China&#8217;s ability to access, obtain or manufacture advanced semiconductor chips amid concerns that China could use them for military purposes.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. then rolled out new regulations in October 2023 to&nbsp;<span class=\"waslinkname\">prevent U.S. chip design firm Nvidia from selling advanced AI chips to China<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2019, Chinese tech companies such as Huawei and China&#8217;s biggest chipmaker&nbsp;<span class=\"waslinkname\">SMIC<\/span> have been slapped with sanctions by the U.S. aimed at restricting their access to advanced technology.
