{"id":22978,"date":"2023-05-21T11:43:53","date_gmt":"2023-05-21T11:43:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/107244334"},"modified":"2023-05-21T11:43:53","modified_gmt":"2023-05-21T11:43:53","slug":"neeva-co-founded-by-a-former-google-exec-to-shut-down-its-consumer-search-product-and-focus-on-a-i","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.worldtechguide.net\/neeva-co-founded-by-a-former-google-exec-to-shut-down-its-consumer-search-product-and-focus-on-a-i\/","title":{"rendered":"Neeva, co-founded by a former Google exec, to shut down its consumer search product and focus on A.I."},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.worldtechguide.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/neeva-co-founded-by-a-former-google-exec-to-shut-down-its-consumer-search-product-and-focus-on-a-i.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"HighlightShare-hidden\"><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"InlineImage-imageEmbed\" id=\"ArticleBody-InlineImage-105297378\" data-test=\"InlineImage\">\n<div class=\"InlineImage-wrapper\">\n<div>\n<p>Sridhar Ramaswamy<\/p>\n<p>Krisztian Bocsi | Bloomberg | Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>Neeva, the privacy-focused search company co-founded by former <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-1\"><span class=\"waslinkname\">Google<\/span><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> executive Sridhar Ramaswamy, announced Saturday that it is shutting down its consumer search engine and will focus on exploring use cases for artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>In a <span class=\"waslinkname\">blog post<\/span> on the company&#8217;s website, Ramaswamy and Vivek Raghunathan, another <span class=\"waslinkname\">Neeva<\/span> co-founder, wrote that &#8220;acquiring users has been really hard.&#8221; They said this challenge, in addition to the &#8220;different economic environment,&#8221; have made it clear that a business in consumer search is not sustainable.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This was a very tough decision that took into account lots of things: our business progress so far, the current funding environment and our ability to continue to grow quickly in this vastly changed search environment,&#8221; Ramaswamy said in a <span class=\"waslinkname\">tweet<\/span> Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>A representative for Neeva did not immediately respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaswamy <span class=\"waslinkname\">built Neeva<\/span> in 2019 after leaving his role as senior vice president of Google&#8217;s ad business&nbsp;a year earlier, which he said was over disillusionment with the company&#8217;s relentless focus on maintaining growth at the expense of users.<\/p>\n<p>Neeva will explore use cases for generative AI and large language models in search going forward, according to the post.
